Please find below our Parent Overview detailing what our children in Year 2 are learning this week.

| Literacy | For Creativity Week we will be exploring the text ‘The Tin Forest’. We will be making predictions about the text and discussing the vocabulary used. The children will be writing their own poems inspired by the text using, expanded noun phrases |
| Maths |
In maths we will be taking inspiration from the theme of forests and solving some plant-based problems using our learning from this past term. Children will be encouraged to work systematically to find the answers and will have the opportunity to explain their ideas to peers. |

Science |
We will start our plant topic by looking at what plants need to grow. We will then be planting seeds ready to observe their growth during the summer term. |
| Foundation subjects | In Art and DT we will be using a mixture of different media to create the fauna and flora of the Tin Forest. For Music we will be heading outside to create a sound scape which we will then try to recreate in class. Our PSHE learning will centre around our hopes and dreams for our planet. |

Creativity week! If you would like to come and see all the work we have produced, please do come along and look at our exhibition on Friday 4th April. |
Please note this is a basic overview of the planning for this week. It is impossible to cover in this outline all the learning that takes place during a week! We also believe in listening to your children and responding to their interests and ideas therefore all our planning is flexible. Please note some of the learning will take place across more than one week and during some weeks the learning focus may not cover all curriculum areas.
