Parent Overview EYFS

Please find below our Parent Overview detailing what our children in the Early Years Foundation Stage are learning this week.

Curriculum area	We are learning to…
Language and communication	Learn new vocabulary– state, bare, temperature, hibernation, migration, Develop our communication and language skills through a range of different activities – story mapping, sequencing and retelling Goldilocks & the Three Bears.
Literacy	Tell stories using the pictures. Read the tricky words: some, come, little Recap and apply the phonics we have learnt so far Read and write CVC words and simple captions
Maths	Understand the concept of ‘more’ and ‘fewer’ and describe and compare quantities
Understanding the World	To discuss some signs of Winter To understand ‘melting’ and what happens during this process
Expressive Art and Design	Perform our Christmas songs and movements.
Physical Development	Develop our fine motor skills through a range of different activities – e.g. cutting, building, tracing and playdough disco
Personal, Social and Emotional Development	Collaborate in a large group with a range of different children and adults to practice our Christmas performance. Discuss the different people who help keep us safe.
Other information / important dates	Wednesday 27th 11am - deadline for flu vaccination responses Friday 29th Chocolate donations for the PTFA Christmas Fair

We also believe in listening to your children and responding to their interests and ideas therefore all our planning is flexible. Please note some of the learning will take place across more than one week and during some weeks the learning focus may not cover all curriculum areas.
